The honey bee shown in the picture to the right is not very typical of Apis mellifera mellifera. I am used to bees that are more black than the one shown here. Although I have a special interest in bees of Apis mellifera mellifera strains, I am fascinated by all aspects of all types of Apis mellifera honey bees. D.A.Cushman.
