This is a rather trivial page, but I was clearing out some old papers from my rather untidy filing system and I came across an example of the old label that was used for postage and thought that it might as well be recorded for posterity, or just for what it is... A piece of history. Shortly after discovering the label, some old letters came to light and I have included the letter headings as well.

It is nothing more than an old mailing label of the Bee Improvement and Bee Breeders Association, from the time when it's title was "British Isles Bee Breeders' Association".

It's Green colour was always a portent of something new and exciting when it dropped though the letter box.

The address has been erased simply because it was an old one, that is no longer relevant. The style of label is a reflection of the letter heading of the British Isles Bee Breeders' Association at the time before photocopiers became widely available. The postmark was actually Leicester although I could not read the district and date.

The letter heading Shown here is from the time previous to the above label when the association's name was Village Bee Breeders' Association. The paper is a little crumpled, but the cream colour is the correct colour of the paper rather than fading.

This second letter heading was produced by some sort of duplicating process. The paper colour has been doctored as the example scanned had turned brown with age and the action of the duplicating chemicals. It stems from the time immediately after the name change and Beo Cooper has used a felt tip pen to use up his old stock of paper.
